Submersible Sump Pumps

What are Submersible Sump Pumps?

A submersible sump pump is designed work underwater and are installed in the sump pit itself. The can have a float-activated switch or a diaphragm activated switch. A float activated switch has a float that moves up and down with the water and triggers the pump when it rises to a certain level. A diaphragm switch uses a diaphragm to measure the weight of the water above the pump, when the water level reaches a certian level the switch will trigger the pump.

Submersible sump pumps are typically more expensive than a pedestal sump pump, but run quieter since they are underwater. They also have a longer life due to the fact that their sealed motors are protected from moisture, dust, or other contaminates.
